Justin Krook is a documentary filmmaker based out of Los Angeles.
DIRECTING
Krook’s directorial debut, the GRAMMY-nominated NETFLIX documentary I’LL SLEEP WHEN I’M DEAD, is a meditation on family, work ethic and ambition told through the eyes of dance music’s most capricious character, Steve Aoki. His follow up music doc, TRAVIS BARKER: LOUDER THAN FEAR (HULU), chronicles the life of drumming icon Travis Barker and his long road to recovery after walking away from a deadly plane crash.
His feature length directing credits also include two branded documentaries: A FIRE INSIDE (NRMA), an award winning account of the volunteer firefighters who bravely battled Australia’s apocalyptic Black Summer bushfires and MACHINE (Audi AG), an eye-opening look at the ethical dilemmas humanity faces with the rise of artificial intelligence.
In the docuseries space, Krook has contributed to Season 2 of APPLE TV+’s Emmy-nominated series HOME.
